I needed a little gift under $5 for my MOMS Club Holiday Party, so I headed over to Hallmark with that $5 printable coupon. I found this cute little dish with spreader and paid just $4 after the coupon. It was the perfect thing to gift along with some simple Cheese Ball Recipes.
I used two of my favorite recipes for cheese balls–one savory and one sweet–and printed them on holiday paper to include with the gift. If you don't have holiday paper at home, print it on regular white and have the kids decorate with stickers or drawings. Here are the recipes for you to cut and paste:
Easy Cheese Ball
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
2 1/2 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
In a medium size bowl, mash cream cheese. Mix dressing mix and cheddar cheese into the cream cheese. Shape the mixture into a ball. Roll the ball in the chopped nuts. Refrigerate covered until ready to serve. Serve with crackers.
Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Mix in confectioners' sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover, and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Shape chilled cream cheese mixture into a ball. Wrap with plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Roll the cheese ball in finely chopped pecans before serving. Serve with graham cracker sticks or chocolate wafers.
