We’re Debt Free (Except for our Mortgage)!

I keep wanting to scream and smile and cry. We did it!! We made the final payment on my husband's law school loan…so now we're debt free (except for our mortgage)!

This video explains how I feel right now:

That makes our grand total of debt payoff $87,705 since 2011. WOWZA! It really pays to set Financial Goals. We had so many setbacks during 2011, so we didn't really make a dent in the debt until the last quarter, but obviously it all worked out.

Now that we're debt free except for our mortgage, we're going to fully-fund our emergency fund. It's been scary not having one! Then, we'll tackle retirement savings which has been ignored during this debt payoff phase. With these new goals, there's not really any “extra” money for quite a while, so nothing will change in our monthly budget.

Still happy!
