DIY Day: Fall Door Decor

Here's a handy yard sale tip–if you see something that says Southern Living at Home, and it's marked $5.00, just take it. You can figure it out what it is later. This was brand new, still in the wrapper, so I figured it would be a good deal. And it was! It's a SLAH Glorious Door Bucket, and it's the perfect fall shade of mustard yellow (though if I ever tire of the color, I can just spray paint it red like Carmella did). Flashback–remember when I got the SLAH Trivets for just $3.00? Love me a yard sale!

Anyhoo, I was thrilled to find this door bucket, because I had been seeing them all over the blogosphere–fancy ones from Home Goods, thrift store finds spray-painted to new beauty, this lovely one from Serenity Now, etc. I knew it was a solid home decor item that was worth the investment (of $5!) because it will last for years and can be changed around for the seasons. For the fall, I picked up some flower picks at Joann's for a little over $3.00 total. I'm not a big fan of fake flowers, but these looked pretty good to me.

Minutes later, I had this lovely bouquet to change my front door from Halloween to Thanksgiving. I love the colors! Since it's nighttime right now, I took an indoor picture instead of going outside to get the full effect. But you get the idea.

Great score! I have a lot of Southern Living items, and I stumbled across some once at a garage sale. I kept looking at the items and was trying to remember where they came from.. then it hit me! She must have been a rep or something.
