I’m thrilled to be sharing such a tasty and fun recipe with you today. We’re going to make homemade salmon potato cakes with a tasty dill mustard sauce that is equally delicious.
After you try these you won’t be sure which one you crave more. The salmon cakes are delicious but the sauce takes them even further above and beyond.
Are these kid friendly salmon cakes?
I would definitely consider these kid-friendly salmon cakes. You can leave off the sauce if you think they won’t like that, but they’re delicious either way.
The great thing is that kids can pick them up and eat them with their hands if they’re so inclined. Because they are made with mashed potatoes, they’re soft in the middles while having a more crispy outer edge.
Flavorwise, the salmon isn’t overpowering. When it comes to fish you can definitely do worse than salmon when trying to get kids interested in new meals. Salmon has a nice mild flavor and texture which makes it great for even picky eaters.

I think if you make them into mashed potatoes first, it should work as a substitute.
