School is almost out, so it's time to plan some frugal fun activities for the kids. How about some free summer bowling?
**Updated for 2021**
What are free summer bowling programs?
Free summer bowling programs are hosted at local bowling alleys and they allow kids to bowl for free. Bowling programs are a great choice for indoor fun during those hot summer days. This program also allows you to get out of the house, enjoy some indoor exercise, and of course…it's fun!
Kids Bowl Free
This long-running program gives kids two FREE games per day during the bowling center's eligible hours. Find a participating bowling center near you to see the hours, and register for passes good for that specific alley.
On Sundays, you'll receive an email with that week's passes for each child. Once you register, you can also purchase a Family Pass good for up to 4 adults to bowl along with the kids.
Summer Blast Pass at Bowl America
Kids in grades 12 and under get two FREE games every day with Bowl America's Summer Blast Pass, plus parents get a Parent Pass for FREE games as well. Register online and receive an email weekly from June 7, 2021 and Labor Day (9/6/21), to redeem at your local Bowl America. Monday's you can get bowling and enjoy yourself with some indoor family fun.
Summer Games Bowling Pass at AMF
So, the Summer Games Bowling Pass at AMF Lanes is not free. It costs $38.95/child and $53.95/adult, but it pays off over time because it includes shoe rental.
The pass is available now and good from May 27 to September 6 and it's good for three games per day Monday – Thursday till 8pm and Friday – Sunday till 6pm.
The prices have gone up a bit from previous years. Now, each time you visit, you get a $5 arcade credit so if you go everyday to bowl you will get a $5 reload on your arcade card so you can also play some games!
What about shoes and shoe rental?
Two of the three programs above do not include shoe rental, so keep that in mind. At our local bowling alley, shoe rental is almost $5/person, so it wouldn't take very many trips to recoup the cost of buying your own bowling shoes.
Where can I buy my own bowling shoes?
Take a look at Craigslist and Ebay, and if you can't find them used, buy new at Amazon (thanks for using my affiliate link at no additional cost to you).
Then, when the kids grow out of them, you can sell them to someone else on eBay, Craigslist, or the Facebook Marketplace!
