Holiday Shopping Series Part 3: Online Deals

Since making your list and thinking about big-ticket items, we've reached the most-wonderful-time-of-the-year for online shopping! Right now is the best time to do your holiday shopping online because stores are offering free shipping, discount codes, and markdowns to entice you. From my past experience, the free shipping and other offers disappear right around Thanksgiving, so now is the time!

To catch the big sales and offers, I check the front page of sites like Slickdeals and FatWallet once a day. Here are some of the offers that have come out in the past few days:

  • HasbroToyShop: Get free shipping and 20% off with code FALL20 through October 13th. Hasbro has brands like Cranium Games, Milton Bradley and Play-Doh. I bought some of these Marvel Super Hero Squad action figures for $3.99 after the discount; I have seen them for $9.99 at Kohl's recently. This Potato Head set is a great starter set for a 2-3 year old, and there are some great puzzles here. Last, they have the Playskool line of Busy Basics infant toys for less than Amazon, and that's before the 20% discount.
  • Babycenter: Get free shipping when you spend $29 with code FREESHIP29 through October 13th. They have their Clearance deals here, including some great Carter's kids clothes like this 2T dress and this 3 mos. boys' set. If you still need Halloween costumes (as I do), there are lots of cute ones here for $12-14. They also have toys on clearance, like these Brightlings Builders for $9.99, which are $16.64 at Amazon.

Plus, if you're a member of a shopping portal like Ebates or MyPoints, you can earn cash back or points for your purchases. For example, I bought $107 worth of shoes at Shoebuy through Ebates, and I get $10.70 back via Paypal. That's another 10% off the free shipping and discount I had already gotten with a coupon code. If you don't have an account with Ebates and want to earn $10 for signing up, please use my referral link here (I'll earn the $10 too). With MyPoints, you earn points that you can trade in for gift cards. I used to use this, but now I prefer the instant cash back from Ebates.

I'll keep my eye out for further store sales at Slickdeals and FatWallet online, and let you know what I find. Happy Shopping!
