Disclosure: My family attended a media event for ICE! at Gaylord National. No compensation was received, and my opinions are my own.
Are you getting into the holiday spirit yet? We've kicked off our holiday season by heading over to see ICE! at the Gaylord National at National Harbor, Maryland. This year's theme is Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, and as usual, they've got it down to a T. We just loved it!
My kids just love the ice slides–two stories high–and even with the cold (it's 9 degrees in there!), they love reading the story, hearing the music, and walking through to see all two million pounds of ice sculptures. We were able to see the carvers working on a face in The Frostbite Factory, and I recommend that you dress warm, because even with the large parkas they give you, it's breezy in there!
In addition to seeing ICE!, your family can visit the Gingerbread Decorating Corner, do The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt, or ride the kiddie train (all are additional costs). For free fun, hang out in the Atrium area of the Gaylord National to watch the dancing fountains and nightly snowfall. We loved seeing the new tree this year.
ICE! at Gaylord National is now open through January 3, 2016. Hours vary and can be found at ChristmasOnThePotomac.com. Regular non-peak ticket price is $28 for adults and $20 for kids, but with coupon code WeLoveICE, you can save $4 off non-peak tickets through December 17th. Kids 2 and under are free, and military discounts are available.
