I absolutely love finding FREE resources that make life easier. I was referred to SignUpGenius by a fellow swim mom this summer, and I used it to organize our team's Friday morning muffins. It took only minutes for me to pull a SignUp page together and add parents' email addresses. The SignUpGenius program sent out the emails (inviting parents to view the page I'd made), and volunteers signed right up. Then, the program sends a reminder email to each volunteer 2 days before their slot. It was so much better than our previous paper sign-up. We had no problems with empty slots, missing muffins, or unhappy kids. I couldn't wait to try it again.
Now it's schooltime, and I offered to help my son's 3rd grade teacher with her Lunch Buddies reading program. She needs one volunteer each lunchtime Tuesdays through Friday. I went to SignUpGenius and clicked on “Create a Sign Up” to make a Lunch Buddies page. The program walks you through the simple steps, and there's a video tutorial in the right sidebar if you need additional help:
Now all I need is the list of parent emails from the teacher, and SignUpGenius will send out an invitation for the parents to view the page. Each family can go and see which days are available, you can easily swap with another parent if necessary, and the teacher can see at a glance who's coming in that day.
If you're organizing a party or potluck church or MOMS Club, coordinating snacks for sports teams, or requesting meals for a new mom in the neighborhood, SignUpGenius is a great tool. It's FREE because there are two ad spaces in the right sidebar of your page; ads appear based on the page's text. For our Swim page, we saw swim store ads all summer. Family-friendly and FREE–love it!
Disclosure: I have no relationship with SignUpGenius, I just think it's a great resource and wanted to share!
