This is a really easy project where the kids can get involved–leave the glue gun to a parent, but they can choose colors and embellishments to really personalize them. After you make some for your kiddos, make a few extras–these are great $5 Birthday Gifts for Kids (they don't even cost that much!).
Pair of flip flops (usually $1-2 at the Dollar Tree or craft store)
Buttons or other embellishments
Glue gun (is there anything it can't do?)
Eyeball how much ribbon you need; you'll want to use two separate pieces to cover the strap from the edge to the center. Hot glue the ribbon to each strap, going from the edge to the center. Also, if you have some of that no-fray stuff for ribbons, you might want to brush it on the side edges of the ribbons. Then cover the spot where the raw ends match with a button or other embellishment. These ladybugs and dragonflies came from the Walmart craft aisle, but you can use regular buttons or any number of other little bits.
Thanks to Carmen for the fabulous idea and fun project!
