Disclosure: Thanks to today's sponsor, Southern Breeze Sweet Tea, for a fabulous product to share and the inspiration to keep summer going a lot longer…
The seasons have been wackier than usual in Virginia so far this year. It was close to 100 degrees in April, so it felt like the summer started early. Then we had a “cold” streak, really lovely weather in the 70s in early August, very confusing to the plants and bringing on fall allergies earlier than usual. I have no idea what we're in for during fall or winter, but I can already tell the back to school season has brought on stress and a sense of overwhelm for most moms around me. I've heard:
“It hurts to look at the September calendar.”
“I'm stressed and the month hasn't even started yet.”
What happened to the lazy days of summer? They were gone in the blink of an eye, apparently. But what if there were a way to savor summer throughout these busy months?
Do you have a ritual for yourself to help you through busy times? You need one. Every busy mom can benefit from a short break occasionally. Whenever you can carve out a few minutes, find a quiet place to sit. Then:
Sit down and calm your thoughts.
Yes, that's it. I'm not even saying, “read a magazine,” because there's already enough stimulation in your brain. Don't add more! Just sit. And breathe. Even if you only take 3 minutes, it's worth it. I like to take as long as it takes to drink a cup of tea. Slowly. Sip and savor.
In the cold of winter, I'll sip hot tea, but the rest of the year? Bring on the iced! I'm new to sweet tea; in fact, I lived in Virginia over 9 years before finally trying sweet tea. Why? I didn't need more sweets in my diet. But I am really enjoying Southern Breeze Sweet Tea for two big reasons: it's easy to make (you know I love easy) and it has zero-calorie Splenda right in the bags so it sweetens while it steeps, to just the right level of sweetness (not too much!). Make some iced tea to keep in the fridge for the next time you can steal away those 3 minutes of peace.
Brewing Southern Breeze Sweet Tea couldn't be any easier:
- Add two tea bags to the pitcher.
- Add 1 quart of boiling water to the pitcher.
- Let steep for 3-5 minutes.
- Remove tea bags, and chill sweet tea in the fridge (add enough ice cubes to make 2 quarts).
I'm eager to try their new flavors: Raspberry, Lemon and Peach! In our neck of the woods, you'll find Southern Breeze at Harris Teeter, Wegmans and Food Lion, but you can always order on Amazon. Get more info by connecting with them on Twitter and Facebook. Happy sipping!
