With all of our Day Trips from DC this summer, we've been doing a lot of summer road tripping. BJ's Wholesale Club invited me to check out their summer entertaining products, so I thought, “What can I find to entertain the kids on our road trips?”
Road Trip Entertainment
I found these great puzzle books that my kids would love, such as Seek & Find, Spot the Difference, Puzzles & Mazes, and more. With an especially long drive, we rely on our DVD player, and there's a great assortment of Kids' DVDs. I found everything from Curious George to Disney, priced from $3.99-11.99. If you're splurging for some new technology, a new tablet will keep the kids happy on a long drive. And a new GPS unit would make the drive a lot smoother!
Road Trip Snacks
When it was just two of us doing road trips, we'd stop at a convenience store for a treat once in a while. Now, with a family of five, it's more frugal to plan ahead and buy our snacks in bulk. My family loves beef jerky! Don't forget healthy options like nuts and popcorn, and allow for a little treat like some licorice bites. Perfect for those carseat cupholders-I found these Thermos Funtainers, which are on sale through the end of the month.
Whether you're storing food & drinks in the car or on your way to a picnic or sporting event, you need a way to keep it cool. I found this insulated Mega Tote that would hold a lot! There were also several varieties of Coleman Coolers in all sizes, and I appreciate the wheels for when they're heavy. Next time you're headed out of town, swing by BJ's first to prep for your trip.
