10 Winter Family Fun Night Ideas
Bowling is a great winter activity because it is indoors. Head to your local bowling alley during discount nights for some discounted bowling for the family. You may be able to score free shoes or even a free game.
Go ice skating
While there are a bunch of outdoor ice skating rinks, you may be able to find some indoors as well. These will be a lot warmer than the outdoors during the winter.
Have a dance party
This one is a lot of fun and costs $0! Turn up the music and get up and get moving. Have a dance party with the family, and let loose for a few hours. Make a playlist on your phone, or stream your music if you have a device that can do that. You can also kick it up a notch and do what my sister did–add a disco ball and colored lights!
Take a class together
Find a class that you think the whole family might enjoy. This could be a cooking class, painting, or some other type of activity. Take it together as a family and have fun with it! Check Groupon and Living Social for deals.
Give indoor camping a try
It might be too cold to camp outside, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pitch a tent! Grab your camping supplies and head INDOORS for some camping fun. I love these great ideas for an indoor camping party.
Head to the movie theater
Head to the movies for another indoor activity that will help get you out of the house. Many movie theaters have discount days or afternoon specials to help you save on your movie excursion.
Visit the library
If you’re feeling stuck at home, grab some free books from the library to read. Have everyone choose a new book and then take them home to enjoy.
Go for a winter hike
If you are willing to brave the cold, it might be worth it! Bundle up and go for a scenic winter hike as a family. Find a new trail to go hiking, or take a walk around your neighborhood. Make it more fun with a printable winter scavenger hunt.
Watch old family movies or look through photo albums
If you are looking for something fun to do indoors, break out the old albums and home movies. This is a fun way to spend an evening looking back at old memories.
Have a picnic indoors
Having a picnic might sound like something you can only do during the summer. However, a winter picnic can be just as fun! Clear your living room and bring out a big picnic blanket. Whip up some tasty food and enjoy a picnic right on your living room carpet.
I hope that this list helps you spend a little bit of time outside the home, without freezing to death this winter!
