These are salami roll ups with pickle, but if you’re not a fan–of sweet or dill pickles–just leave them out. Our family loves pickles, and we prefer to use the sweet “bread and butter” pickles for this easy appetizer recipe.
My kids enjoy having these pinwheel sandwiches as a lunch treat, too. It’s an easy way to make an everyday lunch a little more fun!

Fresh off the holiday party platters and right into football party season… there are never enough easy appetizer recipes, right? These Easy Pinwheel Appetizers are one of our favorites!
It just takes 4 ingredients, and the kids love to help make them. You can vary the ingredients, but I’m sharing our favorite combination.
How to make this salami pickle cream cheese appetizer
These are so simple to make! I like to surprise the kids once in a while and put these into their lunchboxes as a surprise.
This recipe calls for relish, because it’s basically chopped sweet pickles. But if you prefer the flavor of dill pickles, just chop enough to make 1/2 cup of them to use instead.
Soften the cream cheese and combine with sweet pickle relish. Spread onto tortillas, then layer on your favorite deli meat.
We love using spicy salami for extra zip, but ham is another favorite. Both pair well with the sweet pickle flavor and make a great combo.
Roll each wrap tightly, and refrigerate to make cutting easier. Cut into 1-inch sections, and they’re ready to go.

How long can these salami pinwheels sit out?
When you’re preparing appetizers or party food, pay attention to how long it can sit out on a party tray or table. These pinwheels, for example, do include dairy (in the cream cheese). I like to put out one plate-ful, leaving the extras in the refrigerator to refill the plate later on.
If you’ve had your pinwheel sandwiches sitting out the length of your event, I would dispose of them just to be safe. But honestly, we never have that happen–they always are eaten right away!
What are some ways to vary this recipe for salami tortilla roll ups?
This easy appetizer recipe is so versatile–you can change it up however you’d like. If you’re not a fan of salami, try using ham or roast beef instead. You can also add seasoning to the softened cream cheese before spreading it on the tortillas. You can also add shredded cheese if you want even more flavor and color.
