Ingredients for holiday truffles
See our printable recipe card below for exact quantities. This is basically a 3-ingredient candy recipe! Then there are lots of different ways to decorate your peppermint chocolate truffles. In this version, we’re using ready-made icing and Christmas sprinkles.
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
- heavy whipping cream
- peppermint extract
- red and green icing
- holiday sprinkles
How to make peppermint chocolate truffles
Pour the chocolate chips into a large mixing bowl.
Heat the cream on the stove at medium heat until steaming, and pour over the chocolate.
Add in peppermint extract and stir until combined.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until semi-firm.
Scoop about 1½ Tablespoon chocolate mixture and roll into a ball. I find it easier to use a small scoop so the truffles come out the same size.
Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until you run out of mixture.
Decorate with icing and sprinkles, if desired. They’re a lot prettier that way!
Your holiday chocolate truffles are now ready to enjoy or to give as a wonderfully festive and delicious Christmas gift. Use a cute container to make gift-giving easy.
Storage tips for homemade truffles
Since a main ingredient in this candy is cream, you have to be careful to store homemade truffles correctly. If you plan to eat them within two weeks, keep them refrigerated in an airtight container.
If they won’t be eaten that quickly, or you’re preparing them ahead of a party, place them into a zipper freezer bag and store in the freezer. They’ll last up to three months that way.
