Easy Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

It just doesn’t get any easier than this Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken. This is an easy way to get your favorite take-out flavors in a home-cooked meal, just using a slow cooker recipe.

The great thing about slow cooker recipes like this teriyaki chicken is that you don’t have to do much prep work. Everything comes together easily in the Crockpot.

Crockpot meals are also really nice for meal prep. I can make the rice ahead of time, make the chicken for dinner, and then we have easy leftovers for the whole week. Leftover chicken teriyaki is great in wraps, on salads, and can be served over steamed rice, lo mein noodles, and more!

What is a dump dinner?

One of my favorite ways to use my crockpot is with “dump” meals like this. Just throw some chicken (breasts, thighs, frozen or thawed) into your slow cooker with a bottle of sauce (prepared or homemade), and cook on low for the afternoon.

Love it! I do this all the time with BBQ Chicken and Salsa Chicken, so we needed a little change of flavors.

Dump dinners are things like this recipe for teriyaki chicken that don’t require much maintenance. You can dump them in and go!

With veggies right in the crockpot, you just need some rice or noodles on the side to make a complete (and fast!) meal.

Ingredients needed for a chicken teriyaki dump dinner:

To make this easy slow cooker chicken teriyaki you will need boneless skinless chicken breasts. You could also use boneless skinless thighs, along with minced garlic, brown sugar, oregano, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, minced ginger, cornstarch, water, toasted sesame seeds, and chopped scallions.

You can serve this over rice so you can make that on the side or ahead of time in order to serve this meal up easily and quickly at dinner time.

Make sure you choose a soy sauce or soy sauce substitute that suits your dietary needs. I like coconut aminos in recipes that I need to keep wheat free!

Can I make Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken with Bottled Sauce Gluten Free?

The nice thing about making your own sauce is that you can control the ingredients. This version of teriyaki chicken uses cornstarch so it’s gluten free. Since soy sauce typically uses wheat it’s not gluten free and then is not great for a lot of folks.

This Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken can be made gluten-free as long as you check the ingredients in your teriyaki sauce (since soy sauce contains wheat). I like San-J Gluten Free Teriyaki Sauce.

If you are set on making the recipe with bottled sauce you can definitely do that with the San-J Gluten Free sauce and then the recipe is even easier!
