Is this a Crockpot dinner recipe?
Yes! The great thing about using the slow cooker to have a healthy dinner on busy weeknights is that I can put everything in there and just know that it’ll be ready for everyone to enjoy when we get home fro the day. The slow cooker is one of my favorite ways to feed my family.
Using the slow cooker allows me to have a nutritious meal on the table for my family with very little effort. During those busy seasons when we have a lot going on, the crockpot saves us time, money, and stress.
Is this a gluten free dinner recipe?
This Italian sloppy joe meat is naturally gluten-free. Serve with GF hamburger buns (I like Udi’s) for a completely gluten-free meal.
They have come a long way with gluten free bread and buns over the years so if you haven’t tried any lately, give it another shot. They’re not bad!
Another great gluten free option for this recipe is to serve with some gluten free cornbread. The box mixes are pretty delicious and they come together quickly and easily.
The flavors go so well together and the gluten free cornbread has the same great taste and texture that we look for in homemade cornbread.
When do you usually serve this recipe?
We love this easy family dinner year-round. It’s also great for feeding a crowd!
When it comes to potlucks there is nothing easier than a crockpot and some buns to take and feed everyone with ease.
Where did this recipe come from?
This recipe is adapted from one in Fix-It and Forget-It Lightly. If your family is not a fan of ground turkey, just substitute ground beef instead.
You could also use ground chicken or any other ground protein that acts like ground turkey or beef in a recipe, to make this recipe to your liking!

What should I pair these Sloppy Joes with?
We usually serve these Sloppy Joes with a side salad or some fresh veggies. It’s an easy meal so I try not to complicate it with a time consuming side dish. Fresh veggies during the summer can also be grilled for a fresh twist that only takes a few minutes!
