This is a very simple tilapia fillet recipe that calls for things you likely already have on hand. I love recipes like this because I know I can pull out some fresh or frozen tilapia fillets and make a tasty meal without having to run to the store for ingredients.

For this lemon butter tilapia you will need seasoning salt, all purpose flour, tilapia fillets, butter, some white wine, lemon juice, and some dried parsley.

Because all of these things are easy to keep on hand I usually do just that, then I can make this recipe whenever we’re in a pinch and need a quick meal idea!

If you want to serve this tilapia with pasta you’ll also need that! I like to serve the recipe with linguini or spaghetti, you can use whole wheat for an added punch of nutrition.

How to make this easy tilapia fillet recipe:

Preheat a large saute pan on medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes.

On a plate, mix seasoning salt with 2 Tbsp flour, and dredge the tilapia in the mixture.

Place 2 Tbsp butter in a hot pan, then add tilapia fillets.

Cook 3-5 minutes then add 2 Tbsp more butter.

Flip fillets and cook for 3-5 more minutes or until fish is golden and flakes easily.

Remove fish from the pan and cover to keep warm.

Add wine to pan along with 4 Tbsp butter, 2 tsp flour, and lemon juice to the pan.

Heat and whisk 1-2 minutes or until thickened.

Stir in parsley and serve butter sauce over fish.

If cooking on a gas stovetop, turn off the heat before adding wine!

  • 2 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, separated
  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 1 stick butter, separated
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
