Making cole slaw at home is really not that difficult! Over the years we’ve gotten used to buying it because it seems quicker and easier but I really enjoy making it at home with this easy coleslaw dressing recipe.

You can still buy the coleslaw mix of shredded cabbage so you don’t have to shred the cabbage by hand if you are worried about saving time!

You can absolutely make this one a day or even more in advance. It gets better after a day or of sitting in the refrigerator. It’s a simple recipe and when it has a chance to let those flavors meld together and soak into the cabbage it gets really delicious!

Feel free to make this one ahead of time and just give it a good stir before you are ready to serve it up!

You will need cabbage that is shredded or coleslaw mix along with some mayonaise, white vinegar, sugar, dry. mustard, and salt.

That’s it! Just six ingredients, most of which you might already have on hand. I grab the bags of shredded coleslaw mix from the grocery store but if you have heads of cabbage on hand you can easily shred them and use that too!

In terms of time I like to save myself the hassle and just get the pre-shredded stuff but use whatever you have on hand it will taste the same!

Ingredients

  • 2 (10-oz) bags finely shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons white vinegar
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Place cabbage in a large bowl.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, dry mustard, and salt.
  3. Pour dressing into the cabbage bowl. 
  4. Toss to coat.
  5. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
