Cheddar Bacon Ranch Smashed Potatoes

It is no secret that I like to have easy recipes on hand. They’re great for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that my kids can help prep them or make them on their own. This is an easy recipe that contains simple wholesome ingredients.

Another reason I love simple recipes like these cheddar bacon ranch smashed potatoes is the fact that I don’t have to slave away in the kitchen for hours on end. These potatoes are on the table in around 30 minutes and they can cook and bake while I’m prepping other ingredients as well!

Can I use other kinds of potatoes?

I prefer to use the red potatoes because they are a softer type of potato. You can use whatever kind of potatoes you like or whatever you have on hand but try and keep in mind that softer potatoes will smash better. Since we are not making traditional mashed potatoes the process is a bit different and russet potatoes may be too hard for this recipe to really work well.

I’d suggest something like white or new potatoes or choose the smaller potatoes if you are using russets or gold potatoes for this recipe.

That's a great idea! You could put it on Warm and use the oven for something else.
