Do I have to use dark brown sugar?

I would definitely recommend sticking to the ingredients listed for this cookie recipe. Some cookie recipes are flexible but for gingerbread you need to have the consistency right or they can quickly go from tasty, chewy, bits to hard as a rock and inedible.

If you don't have the dark brown sugar and you decide to go with something else, let us know how it works out in the comments below. I'm sure others will find it useful in the future if they too find themselves in a pinch!
