Free Lowes Classes for Kids
Most Lowe's stores nationwide participate in free DIY classes and workshops for both kids and adults. Their new Workshops for Everyone program offers several each month.
This program was previously called Lowes Build and Grow. Now it's Lowe's DIY Kids Workshops.
Where do I find out about Lowes Kids Workshops?
Head to the Lowes Workshops site and put in your zip code to find a store near you. You'll see the workshops listed for the current month.
When are the Lowes Kids Workshops?
Lowes Kids DIY Workshops are held on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00am – Noon. You can show up anytime before 11:00am as long as you've registered beforehand.
Plan to spend 15-30 minutes working on the monthly project.
Who are these free workshops for?
These free Kids DIY Workshops for kids are aimed at kids ages 4-11, though they do not check ages. I've seen kids both younger and older there, depending on the project. Just make a judgment call based on your child.
No matter what the child's age, he or she must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop.
What happens at a Lowes Workshop for Kids?
Kids are given a craft kit plus the space and tools to work on it. Keep that in mind so you don't show up too late in the session!
All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
What kinds of Lowes kids projects are there?
Typically, the wooden project is themed for the month. Occasionally, it is something more general–like a game or vehicle.
How do we participate in a Lowes Workshop?
You do have to register ahead of time, because these events are very popular. It looks like they open registration for the following month on the second Saturday of the current month–the same day as the Kids Workshop. Set yourself a reminder to do it each month if your kids want to participate!
Keep in mind that ALL attendees need to be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times.
What is the next Lowes Kids Workshop?
The February workshop is coming up on Saturday, February 8th. It's a cute Love Note Holder for Valentine's Day!
Then, for the rest of the year, plan on these Free Kids Workshop dates:
- February 8th – Love Note Holder
- March 14th – Tabletop Basketball
- April 11th
- May 9th
- June 13th
- August 8th
- September 12th
- October 10th
- November 14th
- December 12th
What if we can't make it to a Lowes Kids Workshop?
Great news! You can also attend free building workshops at Home Depot near you. There are lots of stores that offer free classes, crafts and workshops.
You can also purchase kids' wooden project kits at the store, but I find that they are overpriced. You are better off buying your own wooden craft kit online, like this one under $5.
