Mixing cream cheese for pepperoni pinwheels

How to make pizza pinwheels with tortillas

Start by combining the cream cheese, pizza sauce and Italian seasoning in a bowl. Mix until well combined.

Add 1/4 of the mixture to each tortilla, and spread over the entire surface.

Layering cheese and pepperoni on tortillas

Sprinkle 2 oz of the cheese over each tortilla.

Arrange pepperoni in a single layer on top of the cheese layer.

Rolling up pepperoni pizza on tortillas

Roll the tortilla up tightly. Wrap in plastic wrap, then refrigerate for 1 hour (this makes slicing easier).

Remove from the refrigerator, and remove plastic wrap. Cut into 1-inch sections.

Arrange flat on a platter to serve.

What else goes in pizza pinwheels?

Just like regular pizza, consider these tortillas a blank canvas for your favorite pizza toppings. Use turkey pepperoni instead of regular. Prefer vegetables to pepperoni? Go for it!

The only thing to be aware of is how stuffed you make each tortilla. The more you fill it, the harder it is to roll up and then slice.

And a note about the sauce–for more pizza flavor, add an additional ¼ cup of sauce. Any more than that, though, and the insides will be too runny.

How to store pepperoni pinwheels

If making pizza pinwheels with tortillas in advance, they’ll last about 24 hours in the refrigerator. That saves you time and trouble on party day.

If you have leftovers (we never do!), store them in an airtight food container and store in the fridge for 1-2 days.

Because of the cream cheese and sogginess factor, I do not recommend freezing these pinwheels.
