Tzatziki sauce is a cucumber yogurt sauce that also contains some other flavorings and seasonings like garlic, lemon, mint or dill, olive oil, etc.

It's a creamy sauce that can also be used as a cold dip recipe!

Tzatziki is often served as kind of a hummus style dip with bread or pitas for dipping. You can also serve it on gyros which is how it commonly served here in the United States.

Is this a traditional Tzatziki sauce? This recipe uses traditional ingredients to make a tasty sauce or dip. You will need shredded cucumber, greek yogurt, fresh dill, minced garlic, lemon juice, and then some salt and pepper to taste.

It's a very simple recipe that you can serve with veggies for dipping or bread / pita for dipping. It can also be used on your favorite Greek dishes like gyros!

How to make tzatziki recipe with Greek yogurt:

This recipe for tzatziki dip with Greek yogurt is actually really easy to whip up. It's simple, delicious, and even better after it has a little bit to sit and allow the flavors to meld together.

Grate the cucumber and place in a fine mesh sieve over a bowl.

Cover and let sit out for one hour to allow water to drain out.

Squeeze the cucumber to remove as much water as possible.

In a large bowl, beat the greek yogurt until smooth and no lumps remain.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Shredded Cucumber
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Dill (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and place in a fine mesh sieve over a bowl.
  2. Cover and let sit out for one hour to allow water to drain out.
  3. Squeeze the cucumber to remove as much water as possible.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the greek yogurt until smooth and no lumps remain.
  5. Stir in the grated cucumber, fresh dill and minced garlic.
  6. Season to taste with lemon juice, salt and pepper.
  7. Refrigerate 1 hour or until ready to serve.
