I love finding DIY crafts and home decor projects that I can swap in and out throughout the year for the seasons and holidays. Last year, I shared my flip flop wreath, but it’s not summertime yet. Spring calls for flowers!
One of the best things about making a DIY pom pom wreath for Mother’s Day is that you get to create something unique. Heartfelt gifts are hard to buy in the store so making something with your own two hands is a real treat…especially when the end result is this adorable.
If you have kids at home this is also a great Mother’s Day wreath to help them make for grandmothers. You could also use this as a regular spring wreath to decorate your front door, mantle, or any other part of your home!
What you’ll need to make a pom pom wreath at home:
You will need just a few simple things to make this easy homemade pom pom wreath. You can get most of this online or at a local craft store so you can make this lovely spring time wreath at home.
- Wreath form
- Burlap fabric strips
- Scissors
- Green cardstock paper or felt
- Colorful pom poms
- White craft glue
You can use different shades of burlap to suit your taste. I’ve even seen green burlap in a roll at the Dollar Tree. You can also use larger and smaller pom poms for your wreath to create different sized flowers. Getting an assortment of pom poms in different colors and sizes means you’ll have lots to choose from.
How to make this wreath for Mother’s Day:
This wreath is easy to make, so it’s perfect for tweens to do on their own or for beginner crafters of all ages.
Step 1:
Wrap the wreath form with the burlap. Secure with glue.
Step 2:
Cut a piece of felt or thick paper into a square about 2 inches x 2 inches. No need to measure, just eyeball it. This will be the base for one pom pom flower.
Step 3:
Take a small-sized yellow pom-pom and glue it in the middle of the base for one flower. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 4:
Then, take a colorful pom pom and glue it on one side of the yellow one. Continue, adding the other pompons around the yellow center. Repeat these steps to create a second flower.
Step 5:
Cut leaves out of green felt or cardstock. Glue the flowers and leaves onto the wreath. Let dry completely before displaying.
