How can I cut eggs and dairy from other cookie recipes?

You can substitute eggs in most baked goods by combining ground flax seed with water. It's an easy way to cut eggs from your baked goods without having them flop.

To make an egg from flax and water you'll need mix one tablespoon of ground flaxseed with three tablespoons of water. Mix it together well and let it sit in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. You can leave them as long as 30 minutes until they thicken and set up. Then you are ready to go!

Eggs usually add color, leavening, and structure to baked goods. They're responsible, along with the flour in baked goods for the height and texture of cookies, cakes, muffins, etc.

Replacing dairy is getting easier all the time with more and more dairy free alternatives. Nut and soy milk alternatives are readily available for more dairy products now which makes life so much easier when baking and omitting dairy!

Where do I find dairy free chocolate chips?

Semi sweet morsels and chocolate chips usually contain dairy. You can check them, each brand will vary. I like to use Enjoy Life brand ones which are free from most of the top allergens! You can get them here.

Not all semi-sweet morsels have dairy products so you can always check your preferred brand to be sure. I usually choose a brand that is clearly marked dairy free so I know that they're taking cross contamination seriously as well.
